Daxinzhuang Ruins Museum brings Shang culture to life

The Daxinzhuang Ruins Museum in Licheng district, Jinan, began trial operations on Dec 6, opening its doors to the public for the first time.

The museum showcases the largest Shang Dynasty (c. 16th–11th century BC) site in Shandong province discovered to date, with the longest continuous occupation.

Covering 22,000 square meters, the museum features two floors and five exhibition halls, displaying over 800 cultural relics. The first-floor halls highlight the site's role in the formation of a pluralistic and integrated Chinese civilization, while the second-floor exhibitions guide visitors through the archaeological process.

During its trial operation, the museum presents a range of precious artifacts, including the oracle bone unearthed in 2003. Advanced technologies, such as 3D animation, vividly reconstruct ancient daily life and illustrate how the site was excavated, offering visitors an immersive experience of the site's ancient heritage.
