Tai'an strengthens farming, rural vitalization efforts

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Tai'an has focused on key agricultural and rural tasks in an effort to fully advance rural vitalization.

In 2024, the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fisheries in the city reached 74.47 billion yuan ($10.53 billion), with rural residents' per capita disposable income hitting 26,489 yuan.

Grain production has been steadily strengthened. In 2024, grain output reached 2.66 million metric tons. The city also expanded facility-based agriculture, livestock, and fisheries, producing 6.37 million tons of vegetables and 700,000 tons of meat, eggs, and milk.

Rural industries have been upgraded through specialized sectors such as Taishan tomatoes, tea, and high-end livestock, supported by two national modern agricultural industrial parks and eight strong agricultural towns. Large-scale agricultural processing enterprises achieved revenue of 50.22 billion yuan in 2024, while rural tourism has flourished, with six villages honored among China's beautiful leisure villages.

Improvements in rural living environments have been systematic, with 255 provincial-level beautiful and harmonious villages established. Rural infrastructure has been enhanced, including 15,500 kilometers of rural roads, while 95 percent of households now have access to piped water.

During the period, innovation remains a priority, with Tai'an developing a digital agriculture framework featuring one central platform and five sector-specific systems. The city has also promoted green development, with over 98 percent of agricultural products passing quality inspections. Pilot reforms in rural land management and property rights trading have further strengthened institutional support for sustainable growth.
